Small habits can create steadier days

Mindfulness can mean paying attention to the present moment with less judgement. It does not need to be perfect, spiritual, or time-consuming.

Try one small habit

  • Pause before opening your inbox and take three slow breaths.
  • Drink a glass of water away from your screen.
  • Notice five things you can see, four you can feel, three you can hear, two you can smell, and one you can taste.
  • Take a short walk and name what you notice around you.
  • End the day by writing one thing you handled as well as you could.

When mindfulness is not enough

If distress is intense, persistent, or linked to trauma, crisis, or safety concerns, seek appropriate professional or urgent support. Mindfulness exercises are not a substitute for care.

Important: Grounded Therapy is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent mental health help in England, use NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
